70cl / 54.8% / Gordon & MacPhail – One of Scotland’s great lost distilleries, new releases of St Magdalene are increasingly rare. This single refill hogshead was filled in 1982, shortly before the site was closed and sold to developers. It rested for nearly four decades in Gordon & Macphail’s warehouses before emerging as an elegant, aromatic whisky packed with tropical fruit. The nose shows grapefruit, caramel and baked apples while the palate offers pineapple, passionfruit and a herbal side with mint and freshly cut grass.
